Titans Release Veteran Kicker Rob Bironas
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Titans have released longtime kicker Rob Bironas, the second-leading scorer in franchise history.
The team made the announcement Wednesday on Twitter.
Bironas had spent his entire nine-year career with Tennessee and had 1,032 career points to rank behind only Al Del Greco in the history of the Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans organization. He has made 85.7 percent of his career field-goal attempts and ranks fourth in NFL history in career accuracy. The 36-year-old Bironas went 25 of 29 on field goals last season.
In a statement announcing the move Wednesday, Titans general manager Ruston Webster said, "We want to thank Rob for his nine years of service to the Titans. He has been an outstanding kicker and we appreciate him both for his contributions on the field and in our community. "
Bironas was set to make $2.875 million in 2014.
