Teen Arrested For Loaded Gun In School Parking Lot

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A student at Hunters Lane High School was arrested after bringing a loaded handgun onto school property.

The 17-year-old 11th grade student told police that after he arrived at school Monday morning he placed the gun into a friend's unlocked vehicle in the school parking lot.

The teen's identity was not released due to his juvenile status.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said the gun was a .380 semi-automatic and contained a magazine loaded with two rounds.

Investigators said the teen told them he bought the gun for social status. He was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon on school property.

Information about how the gun was discovered was not released.
