Walmart Store Coming To La Vergne Will Add 400 Jobs
LA VERGNE, Tenn. – Walmart plans to build a new store in La Vergne that will add about 400 new jobs in the area, city officials announced Monday.
The Supercenter is set to be built at the corner of Murfreesboro and Fergus Roads. The Planning Commission must first vote March 25 to subdivide the 45.15 acres into three lots for the Walmart Commercial Center Subdivision. After that, the retailer will present a site plan for approval.
"Walmart will fit perfectly into this commercial area, but more importantly we are now giving our citizens shopping choices," said Mayor Senna Mosley. "I am elated that La Vergne will now have options to shop for clothes, books, shoes, and more without having to leave the city."
"It has been a pleasure to work with La Vergne over the last year," said Ray Glover, Walmart Real Estate Director. "Walmart is excited for the opportunity to serve the people of La Vergne. We are thankful for the vision of Mayor Senna Mosley, to bring the people of La Vergne an opportunity to save money so they can live better."
It was not immediately known when the new store would open.
City officials also said additional store and restaurant announcements are anticipated in the near future.
