Wilson County Home Destroyed By Fire

Wilson County Home Destroyed By Fire

CREATED Feb 27, 2014

WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. – A Wilson County home was destroyed by fire early Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out around 4 a.m. at the home on Henderson Road in Lebanon. Flames and smoke were visible when the first responders got on the scene.

The property owner said he rented the home to a couple. The couple were able to get out of the home after waking up to smoke.

"About a quarter of a mile down here, half a mile is where they had to go get water. But it wouldn't have made a whole lot difference. The house is about 100 years old," said homeowner Gary Maxey.

The home was a total loss, so the property owner said he would put up the renters in a different one of his properties.

A fund has been set up for the renters at Suntrust Bank under the name of Jennifer Runyon.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation. The home had a wood burning stove, but it was unknown if that contributed to the fire.
