Songwriters Showcase Highlights Stories Behind Hit Songs
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Two songwriters who have written hits for some of country music's biggest names got their chance in the spotlight.
At a Songwriters Showcase at Ocean Way Studios located on Music Row Tuesday night, Tim Nichols and Rivers Rutherford put on a show for out of town visitors.
The two men shared some of their favorite songs and the stories behind those songs. They have written hits for country artists like Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Alan Jackson.
For many in the audience, it was look at what goes into creating a hit song.
"It's kind of a like a peek behind the curtain so to speak," said Tim Nichols, a Nashville songwriter. "People, we found, they love the stories behind the songs."
"Every song has a unique story behind it," said Rivers Rutherford, a Nashville songwriter. "In Nashville, at any given moment I think someone told me there are 25,000 people writing songs. It is amazing to see how any of those songs get recorded."
This event was organized by PURE insurance as part of the company's annual leadership forum for employees from around the country. It kicks off a series of events and meetings that will be held in Nashville this week.
