Officer Follows His Nose To Bust A Crime Ring

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - A Murfreesboro police officer followed his nose to a hotel room full of marijuana smoke and a bogus credit card operation.
Officers with the Murfreesboro Police Department were on routine patrol at the Select Inn where they smelled the fumes and knocked on the door.
Two men inside, Hugh Slater and Aaron Perry, were arrested on drugs charges. A subsequent search of the room turned up everything needed to make bogus credit cards from a card punch machine, to a credit card scanner to blank plastic.
"They take numbers that are stolen from anywhere in the world and manufacture cards and sell them on the street," said Kyle Evans with the Murfreesboro Police Dept.
Both suspects are from Detroit, Michigan and Evans said it's possible they've left a trail of bogus cards on their trip down into Tennessee.
Special agents with the state are now also investigating the case.
