CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A man has been arrested after police found him in a vehicle behind a public library in Clarksville wearing tactical vest and carrying several knives and loaded guns.

Officials from the Clarksville Police Department responded to the Montgomery Public Library at 350 Pageant Lane around 9:30 p.m. Thursday after reports of a suspicious person in the area.

The officer found Daniel Joseph Slusher sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot behind the building.

Police department spokesperson Natalie Hall said Slusher was dressed in all black and wearing a tactical vest. He told the officer he had been waiting for a job interview with a bonding company.

After asking Slusher to get out of the vehicle, the officer found six knives, handcuffs, two collapsible batons and a .45 caliber handgun in a leg holster. Officials said the gun had one round of ammunition in the chamber and a full magazine.

Slusher also had an empty revolver holster strapped to his vest. The officer found the gun under the driver's seat and said it was loaded with five rounds of ammunition.

The officer also found four chemical protective suites, five nerve agent antidote kits, brass knuckles and ammunition for five or six additional weapons.

Slusher had a carry permit, but it had expired in September 2013.

He was arrested and charged with unlawful carry and possession of prohibited weapons.
