MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - What happened at the Regal Inn in Murfreesboro early Wednesday morning was like something straight out of a movie.

Kyle Evans, a spokesperson for the Murfreesboro Police Department, said it started with a call to 911.

"The caller reported to our dispatch that her ex-boyfriend threatened to kill her and himself," he said.

Timothy Dorsey, an ex-boyfriend of the victim, found out she was inside a room at the motel with her current boyfriend. Dorsey told the woman he needed help and she refused to assist him.

Evans said officers arrived on high alert.

"The officers ordered him out of the vehicle and during a confrontation the suspect gunned the vehicle striking the motel room."

Officers even had to draw their weapons to try to avoid what happened next.

"The officer had to dive out of the way to keep from being struck by the moving vehicle," said Evans.

But nothing could stop Dorsey from getting the victim's attention. The two people inside the room had to receive medical treatment, the officer suffered minor injuries and Dorsey ended up in handcuffs.

Dorsey was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault, DUI, and resisting arrest.

In a strange turn of events, the victim, Susan Cole, was also arrested.  It happened at the hospital after it was discovered she had active warrants out of Marshall County.

Dorsey's bond was set at $100,500.  His court date has been set for March 20.
