Man Charged After Attempted Robbery At Mt. Juliet Restaurant
MT. JULIET, Tenn. – A man was arrested after allegedly attempting to rob a restaurant in Mt. Juliet Monday night.
Police charged 28-year-old Thomas Barnes with aggravated robbery and theft after it was determined the gun he used during the attempted robbery was stolen.
Employees at the Cracker Barrel on S. Mt. Juliet Road were closing the business when a man came up to the door carrying a cell phone and a gun around 10:30 p.m.
An employee was able to close and lock the door before the man got inside, but he started hitting the door while employees ran to the back of the store and called police.
The man then got into a car, and Barnes was located by police at the gas station across the street.
"They detained three individuals-- one of those was the suspect that approached the front door. He's been apprehended. He's in custody and he's headed to jail," said Sgt. Tyler Chandler with Mt. Juliet Police.
The other two people found with Barnes were not charged.
