Shock After Ministry Student's Murder Charges
JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - Friends of a youth pastor and Christian ministry student at Union University who now stands accused of killing his fiancee said they are shocked by the allegations.
Police said 21-year-old Charlie Pittman shot and killed his fiancee and then staged the crime scene as a suicide. Pittman was arrested Saturday night and charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. Pittman's fiancee, Olivia Greenlee, was found dead in a vehicle in a parking lot Wednesday on the Jackson, Tenn., campus.
The Jackson Sun reported that police said the gun used to kill the music education major belonged to one of Pittman's friends but was taken without the friend's knowledge.
Greenlee was described as cheerful and full of life at a service to honor her life Sunday.
