CREATED Feb 17, 2014

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A Walmart employee was arrested after allegedly replacing money with counterfeit cash during her shifts.

Metro Police charged 57-year-old Mary Almeda Turney with forgery and theft.

An affidavit said Turney worked at the Walmart on Powell Avenue. On February 7, police said she took $2,000 out of a Walmart money bag and replaced it with counterfeit money. She then allegedly put the real money in her purse and left the store.

On February 14, she allegedly stole an additional $960 from the WalMart money room. In total, she stole nearly $3,000.

Her bond was set at $15,000.

Arrest records show she was charged with theft in a similar incident in December. An affidavit said that from December 11 through December 26, 2013 she removed $3,826.95 from the register while working at a local Target store.
