Officials Investigating Cause Of Clarksville Hay Fire
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Officials in Montgomery County have asked the public's help in investigating a massive hay fire that broke out Saturday evening.
The fire occurred inside a barn on Dunlap Lane in Clarksville. Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said they are looking into whether or not arson was involved in the incident.
"The fire is under investigation," said Sergeant Steve Heise with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. "We're looking into for information from anyone who may know how the fire started or if anyone had seen any suspicious activity before the fire."
Witnesses on the scene said the barn was fully engulfed in flames and possibly 2,000 hay bales were burning inside of the barn.
A farmer who lives in the area said it's unusual for a fire to ignite naturally during this time of the year.
No one was injured in the blaze, but damages could cost up to $100,000 for the destroyed hay.
