NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Parts of Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky saw wintry weather Friday night.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 9 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday. Up to an inch was estimated for most areas in the advisory.

NewsChannel 5 meteorologist Lelan Statom said a system will move through the region late Friday and early Saturday that will bring more snow to the area. Behind the system, highs warm into the upper 30s to near 40 Saturday.

Metro Public Works treated primary routes, secondary routes, bridges and overpasses throughout the county with brine Friday morning and throughout the day. The mixture helped prevent surfaces from freezing quickly.

By mid-morning Saturday, temperatures warmed up above freezing, which improved driving conditions for motorists.
