Rain Causing Problems On Mid-State Roads

CREATED Feb 5, 2014

BELLEVUE, Tenn. - Wednesday's rain combined with temperatures dropping below freezing caused several roads to close across the mid-state.

Bellevue residents living near Harpeth River at Newsom Station Road are having to find a different road to travel. Newsom Station Road is closed in both directions near Newsom Mill State Park due to flooding. The Harpeth River was flowing over the road Wednesday night.

The National Weather service said the Harpeth crested at about 15 and a half feet.

Also in Bellevue, black ice on Charlotte Pike caused a truck to loose control and end up in a ditch near Memphis Bristol Highway. Metro Police say the driver was not hurt.

Icy roads caused two rollover crashes in Mt. Juliet Wednesday night. Mt. Juliet Police shut down West Division Street near Mt. Juliet Elementary School and Old Lebanon Dirt Road near Nighthawk Lane while the crashes were being cleaned up. The drivers were not hurt and the roads have since reopened.

Salt trucks were called to both areas.
