American Girl Store Coming To Franklin
By Shannon Royster
FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Something big is making its way to Williamson County. American Girl announced Wednesday they have selected the Cool Springs Galleria as the site of its 17th retail store.
The store will be the first in Tennessee. It will also be part of a big redevelopment plan at the south end of the mall.
Previously fans were forced to travel to Atlanta, Chicago and New York for the American Girl experience. The store in Franklin will spread across 9-thousand square feet and is scheduled to open by the spring of 2015.
Ashley May with Cool Springs Galleria says you will find more than dolls there. "It will have a bistro so you can have birthday parties, a mother-daughter lunch," she said. "They'll have a doll hair salon so you can fix your doll's hair."
The store will even have a T-shirt boutique that allows kids to design doll-sized shirts. Jeremiah Pyron works with the Williamson County Chamber of Commerce. He said the store is not just great news for fans of the dolls but also for the local economy.
"Not only will this be great for retail industry here, but it will spur more hotel nights which in turn will help retail and restaurants in the area," Pyron said.
The American Girl doll experience is so big hotels near the stores have created American Girl vacation getaways. Representatives with both the Marriott and Embassy Suites in Cool Springs say they hope to also offer similar American Girl slumber party packages in Tennessee.
