Hundreds Attend Funeral For 15-Year-Old Killed In Shooting
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Hundreds came out to say goodbye to a 15-year-old McGavock High School student who was allegedly shot and killed by a friend last week.
Kevin Barbee was laid to rest Tuesday following a funeral at the River Church on Stewarts Ferry Pike.
Kevin's friends and family said he was an intelligent kid that knew how to make others laugh.
"Kevin never met a stranger. He talked to everybody. As a matter of fact, some would say he talked too much. He was funny, he knew how to make you laugh," said his cousin Avery Finch.
The sophomore was killed last week in a shooting at the Burning Tree Apartments in Hermitage. Police charged 17-year-old Kaemon Robinson with criminal homicide.
Authorities said he was holding the gun when it went off, striking Kevin in the head. He fled the scene following the shooting, but later turned himself in.
President Obama met privately with Kevin's family last Thursday when he paid a visit to McGavock High School for a speech following his State of the Union speech.
