CREATED Feb 1, 2014

PEGRAM, Tenn. – Crews have responded to the scene of a large fire at a grocery market store in Cheatham County.

The fire broke out at the Pegram Valu-Plus Supermarket just after 3 p.m. Saturday in Pegram. Three separate fire units responded to the scene including the Ashland City Fire Department and the Pegram Volunteer Fire Department. The Nashville Fire Department was later dispatched to the scene after the fire spread to the business next door.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known, but officials said they believe the blaze may have originated in the bathroom.

No one was injured as a result of the blaze.

Witnesses on the scene said the fire had been burning for about 30 minutes before crews arrived because fire fighters had been fighting a nearby brush fire.

"This is my parents store and I worked here the last six years," said Rupal Patel. "I grew up around here -- this is everything that we've had."

Patel said they do have insurance to cover their losses.
