Vacant Rutherford County Home Damaged By Fire
RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – A vacant Rutherford County home was damaged by fire on Friday morning.
Firefighters and rescue crews from Rutherford County Fire and Almaville Fire responded to the home at 10550 Franklin Road around 9:30 a.m.
Heavy black smoke was coming from the roof of the home, and firefighters found the first floor fully involved with fire blocking the stairway. After a search for people inside, they found the home was vacant.
"Firefighters did a great job cutting the fire off and extinguishing it so quickly, " said Rutherford County Fire Rescue Chief Larry Farley.
The exact cause of the fire remained under investigation. The homeowner told fire crews that the home was a rental, and he had crews doing plumbing and electrical work. The new tenants were expected to move in Saturday.
The extent of damage was not immediately known.
