Mike Munchak Expected To Be Hired As Steelers O-Line Coach
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak has been hired as the offensive line coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
According to a report from CBS Sports, the deal was expected to be finalized Wednesday night.
Munchak grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania and played for Penn State. He was drafted by the Houston Oilers in 1982 and moved with the team to Nashville as a coach. He was part of the organization for three decades before being fired as the head coach earlier this month.
Even before being sacked by the Titans, Munchak's name was passed around as a possible candidate for the Penn State coaching job.
Since being fired, Munchak had interviewed for head coaching positions with the Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns.
Pittsburgh fired offensive line coach Jack Bicknell after just one season. Munchak was the offensive line coach for the Titans/Oilers organization for 14 years under head coach Jeff Fisher, who he eventually replaced as head coach.
