Jackknifed Tractor Trailer Causes Fuel Leak In Marshall County

MARSHALL COUNTY, Tenn. – A jackknifed tractor trailer has caused a fuel leak on Highway 431 in Marshall County. The roadway has been closed as a result of the leak.

Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the incident occurred on Highway 431 near the county line of Marshall and Maury County. They said fuel is leaking from the trailer onto the roadway.

Drivers have been advised to seek an alternate route.

Troopers said the driver was cited with failure to exercise due care. They said he was traveling southbound on Highway 431 and missed the turn onto State Route 99. When attempting to turn around, the truck jackknifed and spilled fuel onto to road. 

The Marshall County Emergency Management Agency and officials with the Columbia Fire Department have also been called to the scene.

Troopers said a hazmat crew was also dispatched to the area, while crews with the Tennessee Department of Transportation were called out to evaluate the surface of the roadway.
