Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Clarksville

CREATED Jan 21, 2014

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A pedestrian was struck and killed Sunday night in Montgomery County.

Officials with the Clarksville Police Department said 18-year-old Trent Uglow was driving a Nissan Pathfinderon Arrowood Drive when he struck 20-year-old William Leftwich, who was walking in the roadway.

Police responded to the scene near the Walmart on Ft. Campbell Boulevard just before 9:30 p.m.

Leftwich, who police said lived nearby on Northridge Drive, died at the scene.

Uglow told police he did not see Leftwich until right before he struck him, and swerved in an attempt to avoid the collision. Police said Arrowood Drive does not have street lighting, and Leftwich was wearing dark clothing.

Investigators said Uglow did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alchohol, and voluntarily gave blood for testing.

No charges have been filed as police continued to investigate.
