Bold Robber Steals From Popular Video Game Store

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A bold robbery in broad daylight catches a store and a community by surprise. It happened at the GameStop store in Madison Wednesday.
Metro Police said this was a calculated robbery. What makes this one so unusual, according to investigators, is that the robber called ahead of time, pretending to be a customer and saying he needed a gift for his kid. Except when the suspect came into the store, investigators said it became clear he wasn't interested in buying a gift at all.
The robbery happened around 10:00 Wednesday morning, just minutes after the GameStop on Gallatin Pike opened. Surveillance video captures what police believe is the robber's car, which is a newer-model gray Nissan Versa casing the shopping center for about an hour.
Once he walked into the store, police say he demanded the bag that had been prepared for him, which included the new XBox One, valued at $500 and three games, Just Dance 2014, Call of Duty Ghost and NBA 2K14.
"It is unfortunate that this incident occurred at our store; however, we are extremely grateful for the safety of our store associate who was involved in the incident. We are currently working closely with the local police department as they conduct their investigation," said Joey Mooring, a GameStop spokesman.
The suspect is believed to be about 5'8 to 5'10, around 220 pounds and between the ages of 20 and 30. He was wearing all blue with brown boots, and white gloves. If this sounds like someone you know, you're asked to call Crimestoppers at (615)74-CRIME.
