At Least 200 Volunteers Needed For MLK Day Of Service

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – At least 200 volunteers are still needed for Hands On Nashville's MLK Day of Service this weekend.

As of Friday morning, a little more than 600 volunteers had signed up for the work on Saturday and Monday. Officials said 800 volunteers are needed to ensure work can be completed at 10 Metro Parks community centers.

Volunteers will participate in painting improvement projects at the community centers, which serve as one of Nashville's most important neighborhood resources. The community center where volunteers are needed most are Parkwood Recreation Center in Madison; Shelby Community and Recreation Center in East Nashville; Old Hickory Community Center in the Old Hickory/Hermitage area; and Watkins Park Community Center in North Nashville/

Hours for the Day of Service will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to noon on Monday.
