Family Displaced After Fire Damages North Nashville Apartment
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A family was displaced after a late night fire at a north Nashville apartment complex.
Flames broke out in the kitchen of an upstairs unit at the Haynes Garden Apartment on Whites Creek Pike around 11:30 p.m.
Metro Police were already in the complex and called in the Nashville Fire Department.
The chief said crews responded in one minute, with their station being less than a block away.
The fire was contained quickly, but the chief said without the quick response it could have been a different story.
"No family hurt, no civilians hurt, (and) kept it contained to one apartment. Five more minutes and it would have been an entirely different story," said District Fire Chief George Hickey.
The Fire Marshal will determine the exact cause of the fire, but officials said it did not appear to be suspicious.
The family stayed with friends overnight.
