Woman, Child Killed In Single-Car Crash In Giles County
GILES, Tenn. – A woman and a child were killed in a single-car crash in Giles County.
Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the crash happened Saturday on Crescent View Drive in Giles.
Investigators said 33-year-old Tiffany Sumners was driving southbound when she veered off the roadway and overcorrected the steering. The vehicle traveled across and the median and struck a tree before bursting into flames.
A five-year-old child was also killed in the crash.
A 6-year-old child was also a passenger in the car, but survived the crash. The child was said to be in stable condition.
Sumner's relationship to the children was not immediately known.
Officials said speed could have been a factor in the crash.
