Scout Troop Braves -30 Degree Weather During Polar Vortex
by Jason Lamb
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – While some of us are still trying to thaw out from the frigid cold temperatures this week, a boy scout group from Murfreesboro has just returned from a trip that's given them a whole new appreciation for truly, cold weather.
Troop 416 from Murfreesboro spent four nights camping outside in Ely, Minnesota.
While the rest of us were dealing with temperatures in the single digits, the Boy Scout troop was outside in -30 degree weather.
The troop earned an outdoor camping badge for their experience.
Out of the 25 troops from across the country that went to Ely, the troop was one of only two who managed to stay outside the entire four day trip.
While the troop was in Minnesota, they had to deal with wind chill that was more than 50 degrees below zero.
