Columbia Business Files Suit After Building Collapse

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Four months after a historic building collapsed in Columbia, a neighboring business has filed a lawsuit.
Frances Dickson who owns Royal Hair Fashions filed a lawsuit against the building's owner, the Junior Order of United American Mechanics, after the organization's structure collapsed in September.
She's said the collapse caused damage to her own building and has hurt her business. The lawsuit asked for $300,000 to cover damages.
"The past few months, it's been kind of slow because a lot of my clients can't get here because of the building next door; some of them are on walkers and the parking out front is terrible," said Dickson.
Before the collapse, the building was set to be sold and remodeled.
The pending buyer Stewart Parker said his company pulled out of the deal because it didn't want to get in the middle of a lawsuit.
