MANCHESTER, Tenn. – A well-known restaurant in Coffee County was destroyed by a fire on Thursday afternoon.
The fire broke out at the J & J Restaurant on Highway 41 in Manchester around 12:45 p.m.
Heavy smoke was scene pouring out of the building as firefighters worked to contain the blaze and salvage the building. Crews said the roof of the building suffered extensive damage as a result of the fire.
Locals said the iconic restaurant had been in operation for more than 50 years and was a symbol of the community.
No one was injured as a result of the blaze.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
