Woman Arrested In Shooting Death Of Fairview Man
FAIRVIEW, Tenn. – A Nashville woman has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Williamson County man.
Deputies with the Williamson County Sheriff's Office said 43-year-old Kimberly Dawn Matthews was charged with second degree murder in the death of 62-year-old James Kevin Ferguson.
Investigators responded to the home on Walker Road in Fairview just after 1 a.m. Thursday. Initially, they found a pickup truck on fire in the driveway.
Once inside the home, deputies found Ferguson with a gunshot wound to the head. It was unclear how the suspect knew the victim.
A motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
Arson investigators were also brought in to determine how and why the truck was set on fire.
"When deputies arrived on scene, the vehicle appeared to be backing out. It was halfway in and out of the driveway. The rear of vehicle was on fire, which spread to the rest of the vehicle, which eventually destroyed the entire vehicle," said Williamson Co. Sheriff's Sgt. Michael Terns. "We don't know the cause of that right now. That will be investigated, along with this as well."
Matthews was held in lieu of $750,000 bond. She was scheduled to appear in Williamson County General Sessions Court on January 23.
