2 Murfreesboro Schools Briefly Placed On Lockdown Following Incident
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Two schools in Murfreesboro were briefly on lockdown Thursday morning after police responded to a nearby incident.
Siegel Middle School and Erma Siegel Elementary were briefly placed on lockdown status around 8 a.m.
Murfreesboro Police officers responded to a home in the 700 block of Majesty Drive after reports of an elderly man who had a gun and appeared to be agitated.
After arriving on the scene, officers were able to get him to place the gun on the ground. Police said it appeared the man suffered from dementia or other mental condition that caused confusion and agitation.
He was transported to the VA Hospital for evaluation and treatment. A name was not immediately released.
