NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A 19-year-old was shot during an early morning attempted robbery in north Nashville.
Metropolitan Nashville Police said the teen and another man were walking along Ewing Drive around 3:30 a.m. Monday when two men drove up in a dark colored sedan, got out of the car, and tried to rob them.
When the victims tried to run away, one of the two men opened fire. The 19-year-old was struck in the side.
He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with critical injuries. His name was not immediately released.
The gunman and the other attempted robber fled the scene.
Police said the description of the shooter was similar to another shooting that happened just after midnight at the Z Mart on Dickerson Road.
“Yes it's somewhat similar as far as the hair, the dreads, that's the only thing we have at this time,” said Metro Police Lt. William Mackall.
In that case, police said the 31-year-old was in his car when he was shot in the arm. He was not seriously injured.
