A movie that would star Miranda Lambert is in the "early stages of development" according to Deadline.com. The working title for the film is "Something in the Water, and Deadline reports it will be a comedy casting Miranda as one of five women who compete against their mates in a bass fishing tournament.

Deadline describes the film as “a multi-generational ensemble piece set in the heartland … in the vein of ‘Bridesmaids’ meets ‘Steel Magnolias.’”

The film will mark Miranda's first significant acting role. She previously guest starred in an episode of "Law and Order: SVU."

The movie will be a collaboration among Miranda, celebrated female country music video director Trey Fanjoy and screenwriter Cindy McCreery. Miranda and the director have worked together before. Fanjoy directed her videos for such hits as "Kerosene,” “The House That Built Me,” “Fastest Girl In Town,” “Over You,” “Mama’s Broken Heart” and the singer’s most recent hit video, “Somethin’ Bad” with Carrie Underwood.

“With over a dozen award-winning collaborations with Miranda, I’ve no doubt Trey’s transition into features will be equally successful,” Marianda's manage, Marion Kraft of Shopkeeper Management, told Deadline.

In addition to her work with Miranda, Fanjoy has directed music videos for numerous other country stars including Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Trisha Yearwood, Faith Hill, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Dolly Parton, Brooks and Dunn, Lady Antebellum, Sheryl Crow and Garth Brooks.
