Handsy Tim McGraw fan now threatening to sue singer

By Phyllis Stark. CREATED Jul 28, 2014

The woman swatted by Tim McGraw at his July 13 Atlanta area concert has, predictably, now retained an attorney and is threading to sue the singer.

“Jesslyn Taylor has hired a lawyer who has already contacted Tim's people ... and it's pretty obvious she wants Tim to ante up ... or face a personal injury lawsuit,” reports TMZ.

Taylor’s complaint stems from Tim’s concert at Aaton’s Amphitheatre in Lakewood, Georgia, where video (watch it above) shows her forcefully grabbing his thigh and ripping his jeans. The singer responds by swatting Taylor in the head with his hand, then angrily glowering at her while security leads her away.

As Billboard reports, “The incident took place during the concert's encore when McGraw walks down a catwalk while performing his 2013 single ‘Truck Yeah.’ In video footage posted online earlier this month, McGraw is seen slapping hands with fans before Hertz's client made contact with McGraw's leg and he touched her in response.”

“Her lawyer, Eric Hertz -- a Georgia personal injury attorney -- tells TMZ his client was not trying to grab Tim's junk when he hauled off and slapped her. He says she was nothing more than an enthusiastic fan who was part of the show's ‘interactive environment’ and merely wanted a touch,” TMZ reports.

“Hertz says Jesslyn is furious Tim's been slinging mud at her by claiming she was aggressive ... trying to rip his jeans ... and she was thrown out of the concert as a result,” TMZ reports. “He says she feels humiliated and for starters wants an apology.”

Local police, meanwhile, reportedly told TMZ “they side with Tim and feel he's the victim.”

On July 17, Tim’s rep explain the incident in a statement which said: "At the end of the night during the encore, Tim was singing out in the audience and someone firmly grabbed onto his leg and wouldn't let go as he was moving through the crowd. He instinctively swatted to try and keep them from ripping his jeans (which they succeeded at doing), and so he could get to more fans who were trying to slap hands with him before the end of the show. He didn't know who had grabbed him and was trying to keep his pants from being torn."

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada, Tim spoke about the incident, but did not make reference to Taylor.

Tim’s representatives did not respond to requests for comment from either TMZ or Billboard.
