Tauscher talks Packers season opener, 620 WTMJ debut next Tuesday

Mark Tauscher played in many season-opening games, but maybe not one on a stage like this.

The Packers open their season tomorrow in Seattle against the Seahawks, with a national audience watching on Today's TMJ4.

"You try to relax as much as you can, but the back of your mind is always thinking about what you need to do to be successful tomorrow night," Tauscher told "Wisconsin's Afternoon News."

The Seahawks are known for their confidence, which sometimes borderlines cockiness in many people's minds. Yesterday, linebacker Bruce Irvin said he's going to pray for rookie center Corey Linsley, who will face defensive tackle Brandon Mebane in his NFL debut.

"That seems like false confidence to me. I think they're trying to intimidate," Tauscher said. "You're going to try to do that inside his head."

The Seahawks are 15-1 in the regular season at home over the past two seasons. With the celebration of a Super Bowl championship happening on Thursday night, though, Tauscher thinks the Packers may be catching them at the right time.

"I think Green Bay is in a perfect situation," the former Packers lineman said.

The key to stopping the Seahawks offense usually is in containing running back Marshawn Lynch. The power running game of Seattle has been its staple since they acquired Lynch.

This preseason, though, it looks like their offense might be evolving a bit, starting with the quarterback.

"They've kind of unleashed Russell Wilson a bit," Tauscher said, adding, "Now I think they're feeling more confident in what he's going to bring."

On the radio front, next Tuesday brings the premiere of "Tauscher and Kuhn" on 620 WTMJ. Tauscher's only worry might be that neither of the two hosts have much radio experience.

"It's going to be different. You guys are all seasoned pros," Tauscher said. "Once we get in and start talking foolish and start debating each other."
