Unusual Season Ends for the Packers

CREATED Jan. 13, 2014

Another Packer season is in the books and it was certainly different as the law of averages finally caught up with Green Bay.

After a couple decades of the same guy behind center game in and game out, the team lost its franchise quarterback for an extended period of time.

It was like finding out how the other half lives, trying to scratch out touchdown drives not to mention victories.

It's a lot harder when you don't have a few unbelievably great plays along the way.

That having been said, the thing that's a real head-scratcher is the defensive drop in Aaron Rodgers absence. From 11th to 26th in an 8 game span. You can point to Clay Matthews broken thumb as a contributing factor, and it was, but, he had been out for three full games before the defensive fall from grace began. Go figure.

Division titles are nothing to sneeze at though, and winning it in Chicago had to be the highlight of the season.

Team 93 had its shortcomings, but it was long on grit, and with Eddie Lacy, nobody calls the Packers a finesse team any more.
