A Green Bay Packers cornerback being counted on to make a major impact on the 2013 season will be out for Sunday's game.
Four days away from the big matchup between the Packers and San Francisco 49ers, the Green Bay Press-Gazette's Mike Vandermause reported this:
CB Casey Hayward still out with hamstring injury. He wasn't practicing today. #Packers— Mike Vandermause (@MikeVandermause) September 4, 2013
Later, the Packers released their injury report and said he would be out for the contest.
Only two players on the #Packers injury report. Bush (ankle, limited). Hayward (hamstring, out).— Rob Demovsky (@RobDemovsky) September 4, 2013
That means Hayward won't play vs. SF. #Packers— Rob Demovsky (@RobDemovsky) September 4, 2013
"I don't really have a timeline for Casey," admitted McCarthy during the news conference, though he said Hayward believed he was making progress on the injury.
Micah Hyde, a rookie draft pick from Iowa, is expected to play a role in taking his place.
McCarthy-Micah Hyde was one of our top producers in camp, he'll do whatever he's asked (at cornerback). Have no timeline on Hayward #Packers— Green Bay Packers (@packers) September 4, 2013
