Comedian Colin Jost has been chosen as the new “Weekend Update” co-anchor on “Saturday Night Live.” He’ll join current co-anchor Cecily Strong starting March 1, after Seth Meyers departs the post to become the new host of NBC’s “Late Night.”

According to USA Today, Jost has been head writer at “SNL” since 2012, and first joined the show's writing staff in 2005.

The Harvard graduate and former president of the Harvard Lampoon, Jost has won a Peabody Award and been nominated for eight Emmys for his work on “SNL,” USA Today reports.

“He's also set to appear in a movie he co-wrote, ‘Staten Island Summer,’ based on his days as a lifeguard,” according to the paper.
