Demi Lovato is an eX Factor
Britney Spears and L.A. Reid were missing from the judge panel of season 3, and Demi Lovato now joins the expanding list of exes from the American version of "The X Factor."
Lovato, who joined the show in its second season, has announced that she will not be returning for a renewed season 4. Lovato says, "I started the show being a singer and a musician, and so I'm going to go back to that," reports Billboard. "It's been really great, but I'm so excited for 2014. I'm going to dedicate it completely and entirely to music -- touring and making a new album."
A self-proclaimed "manipulator," Lovato and her mom, Dianna Hart, recently sat down for an eye-opening interview with Access Hollywood. Exposing bombshell secrets, Lovato shared "something I've never talked about before," with stories of her intense struggle with cocaine amid her eating disorder and alcohol abuse. Emerging from recovery with a memoir titled, "Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year," in stores now, Lovato not only seems to be a wise 21-year-old, but also focused on the well-being of herself and her music.
In regards to Lovato's departure, series creator Simon Cowell simply stated, "I always knew she wasn't coming back because she's touring." Cowell, likewise, is considering shaking up his role in the show. An unspecified "different role" is being planned along with an entire show revamp for Fox's talent competition, reports Deadline.
"They [contestants] have a choice now what they can audition for -- us, 'America's Got Talent,' 'Idol,' 'The Voice.' We somehow have to convince them, ''The X Factor' is the best one for you,'" Cowell says.
For Lovato, what she'll miss most is "being able to sit next to Kelly [Rowland] and Paulina [Rubio] and see them twice a week, and also helping mentor the contestants."
See her tonight on her final night as a judge on the season 3 finale at 8/7c.
