Three games in, the Packers record, 1 and 2, is nothing to write home about. But what else have we learned along the way?
On the encouraging side, at long last the team may have a respectable running game. Make that more than respectable. The Bengals were allowing just 2.8 a rush but the Packers hit them for six plus while totaling over 180 yards.
For their first three games combined, the Packers are averaging better than five a carry and that's with a backfield that seems to change every week due to injury.
At this point, they're a top ten rushing team and if that holds true throughout the season, that's a real deal running game.
On the discouraging side, Green Bay's had two legitimate opportunities to win games in the 4th quarter, and failed both times. Sure, the losses came against good teams but you have to beat good teams to be a good team.
Don't have a black and white answer for you on this one. Overall, the Packers "play" the game well. By that I mean they compete, they react to situations, They don't crumble when things head south. Scoring 30 straight after trailing the Bengals 14-zip before anyone broke a sweat is one example. But they haven't gotten it done in the 4th quarter.
Personal opinion, they've got the folks to do it, but potential is interesting, and performance is everything.
