UWGB Player Shows Strength Through Adversity
You would never know it by the way she played this season. Jess Hrncar lost her mother to breast cancer last October and spent the summer before her senior year taking care of her three siblings while her mom, Tami, underwent treatment.
After returning to school, she took her mom's relaxed approach to the field and enjoyed her best season hitting 58 points higher than last year, as well as playing error-less ball defensively.
Jess says her play on the field this season came from the inspiration her mother gave her.
"She never played sports her entire life," Jess told me. "But she was our biggest supporter and everything. Whenever she came to watch me i felt relaxed playing just because of her personality. Given the circumstances I feel a lot more relaxed, maybe because i know she's always up there watching me."
