Bulaga's Injury Means Reshuffling for Packers Line

CREATED Nov. 12, 2012

Bryan Bulaga has been placed on Injured reserve with a hip injury, ending his season.

Bulaga started every game this year at right tackle, but suffered what head coach Mike McCarthy called a 'significant hip injury'.

"The more people we talked to, we felt it was best to put him on IR. His long-term health is always at the forefront of these decisions."

McCarthy says the early diagnosis does not require surgery and that Bulaga was working out Monday at the Packers facility.
But, that does not mean he is primed to return any time soon.
"You can't deny what's on the scan," McCarthy said. "So this is in his best interest to go this path and we feel confident about his future."
The present leaves the Packers with only seven healthy linemen. T.J. Lang took Bulaga's spot at right tackle with Evan Dietrich-Smith filling in at left guard after Bulaga's injury against the Cardinals.
A lineup you can expect to see barring further injury.
"I have enough experience so when things happen like that you have to be ready for it, adjust quick and move on," said Lang. "The biggest thing is switching your feet up, getting your technique right."
"It's frustrating," Josh Sitton said, "but it's part of the game. T.J. has rolled over there before, did it last week and it was fine. I think our biggest thing is depth now, we need to stay healthy from here on out."
"You gotta go up there expecting to play at the level the starters are playing at. You have to bring your performance up. You can't be a problem out there," added Dietrich-Smith.
When Bulaga misses Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions, he will become the first starting offensive lineman to miss a game in the 2012 season.
