GREEN BAY -- Today kicks off Wisconsin Ports week.
Governor Walker made the declaration to celebrate the state's 29 commercial shipping ports that are responsible for more than 10,000 jobs. Leaders with the Port of Green Bay say they're honored.
"It gives added recognition to the ports as a commercial function, an economic benefit to the economy because the ports move so much large bulk material and have a very strong impact on the economy," says Facility Manager with the Brown County Port Resource Department Mark Walter.
The Port of Green Bay not only is an important location for imports, but it's also crucial to moving commercial products through the Great Lakes.
