MADISON, Wis.--Governor Scott Walker filed a request to the U.S. Small Business Administration to declare Outagamie County a disaster area due to storm damage that occurred on August 7th. Brown, Calumet, Shawano, Waupaca and Winnebago Counties, also impacted by the storms could also be eligible for SBA assistance.
"This declaration would allow individuals and businesses affected by the storms to apply for low-interest loans," the Governor said. "This option helps the recovery by allowing people to begin much-needed repairs."
The storms moved through the region during the early morning hours of August 7th. Six confirmed tornadoes hit the area causing more than $30 million in damage. Residents and business owners are still cleaning up the mess, two weeks after the storms hit.
