GREEN BAY -- Get ready for more road closures around the Green Bay area. Monday at 6:00 p.m., the northbound off ramp to Velp Avenue will be closed for 36 hours.
Crews need construct a temporary exit for the Beaver Dam culvert box.
“Just got to pay attention and drive when you're in the zone like that,” said Ed Engles, who lives in Little Suamico.
He said he doesn’t mind the construction.
“It's been needed for a long time,” he said.
Drivers can either exit early at Shawano Ave., or late at Lineville. Southbound Velp will remain open.
“People are going to have to preplan, think where they're going to get off,” advised Engles.
The area will be closed for 36 hours, depending on the weather cooperation.
“We certainly won’t stay out there all 36 hours if we don't need to,” said Brian Roper, the U.S. 41-441 Project Groups Chief.
Drivers are finally seeing more progress with the 41 Project. Near De Pere, the barrels are gone, and the speed limit is back up to 65 miles per hour.
The area further north will see closures for a fee more weeks.
“Like an extreme makeover of your home, while you're living in it at the same time, there's going to be inconveniences,” said Roper.
The $1.5 Billion project is expected to be fully completed by 2017.
