OSHKOSH, WI- Three attempted assaults within one week near UW-Oshkosh the latest happening on campus. Officers say it happened overnight between Donner and Webster halls. The female student told police she was walking in a parking lot when a man grabbed her arm.
School leaders say these incidents happen maybe once or twice a year but have never seen three within such a short time span. That's why they are asking students to utilize their safe programs now so more than ever. During the first week last year only 23 students escorted home. This year 35 students taking advantage. But still not using it enough according to university leaders.
"No matter where they're coming from, we just want to make sure they're getting safe from point A to point B," says Shelly Maxwell with UW-Oshkosh.
School leaders also asking students to sign-up for their text-alert program to receive warnings of campus emergencies.
Police have released a description of the suspect in this attempted assault: a black man about 5'10". He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark-colored gym shorts with white tennis shoes.
