Two Rivers-- A Manitowoc county teen is dead after a road rage incident goes horribly wrong. 19-year-old Eric Neuman was killed Tuesday night after he was thrown from his car during a crash. Police say 22-year-old Shawn Lischka was also involved in the crash. It happened on Highway 42 near Theide Rd. in Two Rivers.
Lischka appeared in court via video, facing hit and run and negligent homicide charges.
The victim and suspect in this case did know each other, according to police, but exactly what happened leading up to the crash that killed a 19 year old driver is what investigators are trying to figure out. Police say drugs and alcohol appear to have played a role in the incident.
The chase lasted for several miles. It started in Manitowoc and ended in Two Rivers when Lischka's car struck Neuman’s, causing Neuman to lose control.
"They went there looking for a fight, they didn't get in a fight there, they actually got in their vehicles, they left and that's when they were pursued by the vehicle that Shawn was in,” said Two Rivers Police Chief Joe Collins.
Three others in Neuman's car were not seriously injured.
Flowers are now sitting near the spot where Neumann was pinned underneath the guardrail after being ejected from his vehicle.
Lischka is being held on $5,000 cash bond. He's due back in court for an initial appearance on Monday.
