GREEN BAY - It was a frightening night for one Green Bay neighborhood after a suspected drunk driver crashed into two homes, causing a gas leak.
It happened in the 1200 block of 9th Street around 2:00 Tuesday morning. Neighbors had to be evacuated while crews worked to get the gas leak under control.
Police say a black Chevy Impala was speeding down the street when it lost control, hitting two houses and two parked cars.
"Jumped up to turn on the light and there was no power," said Sean Jablonowski, who owns one of the homes that was hit. "That's when I yelled for my wife, and she said there was a car that ran into the living room."
Jablonowski's wife had been sleeping on the couch on the other side of the wall that was hit.
"Just the 'what if' moments, it definitely scares me just thinking -- and we went in to look at it and the couch is all twisted up and everything," he said.
Officers were eventually able to track down the woman driving the car and her three passengers who ran from the scene.
"To come out and then find out that they ran and they literally could have killed her really upsets me -- just no care for human life," Jablonowski said.
While there's still plenty of cleaning up to do, neighbors say they're thankful no one was seriously hurt.
The female driver has been arrested for OWI and is being treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
The Jablonowskis' house is heavily damaged. It could be weeks before they're allowed back inside.
