GREEN BAY -- A grant today for a local high school to help get students into college.
The Shopki Foundation along with NBC26's Partners in Education presented a check for AVID students at Green Bay West High School. For more than 33 years the Shopko Foundation has raised $27 million for area schools. The AVID program helps prepare students for college who might not have the resources on their own.
"It's great. I mean it is always great to make an impact. When you can help the students, help them succeed for the future and in their education. There is nothing better than to give back and help them," says Michelle Hansen, the program director for the Shopko Foundation.
The money will also be used to help pay for ACT tests and other college preparation needs.
