Suspect dead after standoff in Wautoma

Wautoma, WI -- A nearly 10 hour standoff is over between an armed suspect and law enforcement officers in Wautoma. Waushara County Sheriff David Peterson has identified the suspect as 33 year old Timothy R Pawlacyk from rural Redgranite.
It all started around 3:30pm on Wednesday, when the suspect robbed a pharmacy just north of Wautoma, then fled the scene.
A high speed chase ensued and Sheriff Peterson says gunfire was exchanged between Pawlacyk and police. The chase ended when the suspect crashed the getaway car in a construction zone on W. Division St. The sheriff says Pawlacyk ran into an unoccupied home and remained there for several hours.
Several agencies set up a perimeter around the house at S. Water St. and W. Division St. Officers evacuated several homes in the area during the standoff.
The incident came to and end around 11:15 Wednesday night after a SWAT Team stormed the house and discovered the suspect dead from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound.
