Salvation Army Celebrates Christmas in July

CREATED Jul. 18, 2013

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Salvation Army has gotten by in the past with their annual Christmas fundraising--most famous for the ringing bells. But this year, there are more people in need, and less donations.

The Brown County Salvation Army is hoping their first summer fundraiser pays off. They are teaming up with all Green Bay Culver's and Festival Foods locations for bell ringing. Culver's is also donating 10% of proceeds to The Salvation Army.

Captain Ken Shiels, county coordinator said, “A number of other Army locations have brought out their Red Kettles during July and we thought was a good idea given the ongoing need in the community.”

Dawn Foeller, Advisory Board Chair for The Salvation Army of Brown County said “We’re certainly hopeful that, even if it doesn’t feel like the usual Red Kettle campaign, that people find it in their hearts to donate during the Christmas in July.”

Anyone interested in ringing bells at one of the Festival Foods locations during Christmas in July can sign up online at
